Optimizing the Diagnosis of HFpEF: From Exercise Stress Echocardiography to Hospital–Clinic Collaboration
Speaker: Dr. Masaru Obokata
Associate Professor, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Gunma University Graduate School of Medicine
Dr. Obokata studied at the Mayo Clinic and is widely recognized for his research on atrial function and HFpEF using atrial strain echocardiography. His work is closely aligned with the daily clinical practice at our institution.
Lecturer Profile
Dr. Obokata graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Gunma University in 2007. After completing his initial residency, he worked in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Gunma University Hospital and the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Maebashi Red Cross Hospital. He received his Ph.D. in Medicine in 2015. From 2016 to August 2019, he studied at the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Mayo Clinic (under the supervision of Dr. Barry Borlaug), where he specialized in exercise right heart catheterization in patients with HFpEF. Since September 2019, he has served in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Gunma University Hospital, and in July 2025, he was appointed to his current position.
